Don't let your first impression keep you from staying. It's a work in progress. The staff is exceptional. The beach is terrific. It's definitely a place to chill. There's a small store down the road for your immediate needs. The sports bar offers good food and great management. Give it a chance and you'll be glad you did. When everything is up and running I will give it 5 stars.
My wife loved riding on the beach and the horses looked happy and well fed.
If you love horses, this is a must! We drove out to Cedar Island and did a sunset ride, saw wild horses, cows, and lots of wildlife. Riding on the beaches and running in the water was spectacular. We rode E.T. and Honey, very easy to ride.
I asked my girlfriend to marry while on a sunset horseback ride here. I spoke with Zack who owned the bar/stables/hotel here and he was incredibly helpful and accommodating. He had a lit bonfire on the beach with a blanket and a bottle of champagne waiting for us when we got back. I couldn't recommend this place more. It's a bit off the beaten path, but it's quiet and beautiful and a perfect place to bring your dog or just spend the day there.
